The Long awaited Biography- [Friday May 23 2008]

Chuckle fans will be pleased to know that the Chuckle Brothers Official Biography is only a few weeks away from being handed to the publisher. It has been written by the brothers’ good friend Stuart Clarkson. Stuart told us about the process and why he has been working on the project for the best part of three years. ‘When Paul and Barry asked me to write their biography, I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. What it soon became though, was a privileged and exciting journey with the UK’s premier comedy duo. As you can imagine, just like Chucklevision, working with The Chuckle Brothers is anything but predictable and with the project rolling it was apparent that there was another story in addition to the real life history of the Elliott brothers. As a result I have shadowed the Chuckles at work and behind the scenes for over two years. I have followed them from Plymouth to Edinburgh, from Blackpool to London and a host of places in between. I have been with them during pantomimes, tours, TV recording, summer season and even supporting their beloved football team; Rotherham United. The research has included interviews with the brothers close family, their show business colleagues, the crews behind the scenes of their many projects and most importantly extensive discussions with Paul and Barry. Whilst I am not sorry that the book has took this long to put together (it means I can share my journey with you), I am sorry that fans have had to wait and like all such projects there have been unexpected delays. Many of you have asked the brothers directly when the book would be available and they have faithfully lived with my inaccurate promises. I am very grateful to Paul and Barry for this and to put the record straight, if you will excuse the pun, the book stops here. But my main concern throughout has been to produce a definitive work. Watch this space for news of the publication date and prepare to Chuckle.’
