Our new Tour, The Return of The Pirates of the River Rother 2 – In Stranger Tights starts starts today, we are realy looking foward to be getting back on the road.

We love to get back on the roads and meet all our fans, We have just completed a 4 week pantomime at Hull and we enjoyed every day. It It is still in the very early stages for Next Year’s pantomime but we would both like to do a Tour again or you may see on on your TV screens in ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”! But its a bit to ealy yet for any plans.

One thing we do know is that we have a Large list of Tour dates this year for our spring tour, The Return of The Pirates of the River Rother 2 – In Stranger Tights and it will see us visit over 50 locations up and down the UK.

It All starts when Barry wanted Visit a theme park for the day and decide to brave going on one of the daring water rides. Once inside, we are leaning on a wall when we accidentally fall through and find ourselves magically transported back in time in to a world of pirates and sunken treasures.

Don’t miss this spectacular pirate adventure! Magic, mystery and mayhem are guaranteed. Fun and laughter for all the family and grandmother as well!

The Last Day of Panto!

So that last day of Panto was finally upon us, 1 month has already past! And it didn’t seem 5 minutes since we where in the rehearsal rooms, going through the opening act, and in a couple of hours it will be all over.

We have had a fantastic time in Hull and we have seen some old and new faces from our Tours.

There are glitzy ballroom dance routines and a carriage pulled by two Shetland ponies. But as a spectacle, nothing tops the Chuckle Brothers. Paul and Barry Elliott remain compulsively watchable – their intuition shaped by a double act which dates back to their childhood.

Playing to type in Hull New Theatre’s panto – Paul as the smart one, Barry his bewildered sidekick – the pair’s turn as Buttons and Zip is a masterclass in comic timing.

They perform an eye-watering gag with a razor sharp sword and a cucumber held at waist height. And, with great affection, they relentlessly send each other up. Barry’s rendition of I Believe (For Every Drop of Rain that Falls) is met with the contents of a watering can.

Their slapstick sets the tone for this Qdos Entertainment production. Even the vile Ugly Sisters – Nathan Kiley and Andrew Dyer as the terrifying Trinny and Susannah – can’t derail the bonhomie.

Jon Conway’s script ensures it all bubbles along nicely, with a depth to the gags beyond straightforward slapstick. There is some pathos for the lovelorn Barry, whose tongue-tied entreaties to Cinderella (Emma Dearden) are gently rebuffed.

This leads into the finest sequence in the production, after Cinders’ ticket to the ball is ripped up by the Ugly Sisters. With great gentleness, Barry stages a ball for Cinders. Two chairs on a table – with dustbin lids for wheels – becomes a carriage. To top it off, a string of carrots is solemnly handed over as a gold necklace. “Nine carat that,” says Barry, with a shy grin.

This Last year has been a great year, We got Series one of ChuckleVision on DVD and we hope many more to come and a little closer to home this year with Panto in the great City of Hull and the magnificent Hull New Theatre. We have just come off stage from our First Show and it went great! We are just off to get something to eat then back in to costume and back to the stage! If you have not booked your tickets why not? Give the Box office a Call Today!

Today we started at 10am and started the technical rehearsal of Act 1. (tech is so the stage crew get to know the show and when the scene changes are) The ponies arrived at 2pm and everyone met and petted them, then we ran the transformation scene with the ponies. After the ponies we started a staggered tech of Act2 til 9.30pm.

So We where back in Hull for Our 2011/12 Pantomime Cinderella, It was great to see everyone again and some New faces! Rehearsals got underway around 9am, a quick stop for Lunch then Back to it!

We are off over the weekend so back up to Rotherham and its quite late! Zzzzzzzzz…….

We are back to our Secret Location In Hull on Monday Morning to go through the Script again, we are hoping to be in The Theatre This week also the Big Trucks arrive with the Costumes and set!

Oh dear oh Dear where has barry got to this time?

Well we are packing away all or things now as our Panto rehearsals Start in a Secret Location in Hull on Monday 28th November.
